Copyright type material
If someone re-creates an iconic figure and sells it for money, is that illegal?
Examples: Pokemon/pokeballs, Hello Kitty, etc?
Pretty sure it is, but I was just curious if anyone else had any ideas.
Thank you!

i too have pondered this...i thought you could used a copy righted character for personal use (for example paint a picture of ironman to hang on your living room wall) but you were not allowed to sell or make money from it.
i could be wrong...

I'm pretty sure you're right, but I know there are people out there that re-create and get profit, which I think is illegal for the most part.
Well, there are a lot of different levels to this.
For one, most of these companies are based in other countries, so laws aren't always applied the same.
I've seen a lot of 'fan work' being made and sold. I think for the most part as it's kept small and you're giving full rights to the original artist/creator, I think it's fine. You can go to a painting store a request a painting of a specific character, and that seems fine. So why not this?
