Sealing Polymer Clay

Hi

I'm new, and of course, I have a question. I'm going to be making pendants, and I'm sandwiching chipboard in the center of it, to help strengthen the pendant. My question is, is there anything that I can use either before or after baking, that will help protect the surface from scratching? I'm familiar with Florsham, but I really don't want to make it have a shiny surface. I want it to look as much like bone/antique ivory as I can, and that's not all that shiny. Advice would be greatly appreciated. Oh, it's a flat-ish pendant, going to look something like this...

Click where it says 'larger image'. This one is either carved from bone or horn, it's kinda confusing description.

Go to 13moons dot com click on Jewelry in the left hand menu. then click on God and Goddess. It's the first one. Click on that then click where it says 'larger image'.
