Any way to make liquid clay without TLS?
So, I tried mixing clay, some veggie oil, a little glaze, some water (which I later drained right out when it didn't mix in) and some white acrylic paint and when I baked it, it didn't work - wiped right off the clay actually.
I'm not sure if I can afford some TLS or not, but I was just curious if there was a way to do it without TLS.
I don't have FIMO clay either - which I heard you can mix relatively well with some water.
I has Sculpey.
stupid TLS
Anyways, some help would be appreciated if you can!
Thank you!

I've heard the best way is with oil.
But nothing beats TLS and KLP (Kato Liquid Polyclay), they are rather expensive - almost 7$ for TLS and about 5$ for KLP - but it is MORE than worth it. Granted if you don't want to be buying a lot of it you have to use it sparingly, but such is life. You can get the same effect from other medium, but these are the best as they are made specifically for clay.

I think it's worth it just to cave in and buy the TLS. I've had the same small bottle of it since August and I use it ALL the time, and there's still plenty left. If it's a bit too much for you, buy it at Micheals with the weekly 40% off any item coupons they always give out. ;D
Re: Any way to make liquid clay without TLS?
That's exactly what I do. I have several bottles (of TLS and other expensive items) from those sales that I haven't even opened yet. If I have nothing else that I need to buy I always go ahead and buy extra of the most expensive stuff with sale coupons.
But yeah, I would just cave and buy the TLS. Like I said, you CAN use other things - like water and veggie oil - but nothing will give you the EXACT same effect as TLS.
Also, if you want a more clear result (like if you mix a little clay or pastels for sauces and stuff) there is one by KATO that cooks more clear than TLS. It's called KATO Liquid PolyClay. I haven't used mine yet since I just got it and had to go out of town, but I'm excited to use it. It is also about the same price as TLS, and I can only find it at Hobby Lobby but HL has TONES on sales that rotate departments so try to catch it on a craft week and snag yourself some KLP and TLS ^^
Another note, the KLP is like a MILLION times more liquid than TLS. So be careful you don't get it everywhere when you cut the tip off... -- so says the voice of experience. v.v
